The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Committee has denounced purported politically motivated attacks on certain Lagos State residents.
According to the party, individuals who were attacked were thought to have voted for the LP.
The attacks have been directed at both indigenous and non-indigenous people, according to the Obi-Datti PCC.
The team condemned the attack, which it termed as "very terrible," in a statement signed on Monday by the council's Deputy Director General, Oseloka Obaze.
It is particularly sad that political thugs would target those who used their constitutional rights to vote for the politicians or parties of their choice, said the statement. The Labour Party appreciates its followers and, more broadly, all Nigerians residing in Lagos who have used their basic right to vote in accordance with their consciences in line with its core principle of political decorum. A number of flagrant anomalies in the elections in numerous states are known to the Labour Party. The party will adhere to the law and must utilize legal channels to resolve our complaints in order to give peace a chance. However, it will continue to be steadfast in its efforts to transform Nigeria, which is after all bigger than all of us. We must defend every vote while maintaining the peace.
"Governments at all levels must reaffirm their constitutional obligation to safeguard persons inside their borders, regardless of political affiliation."
